Hi, we own 3 female Aylesbury ducks and was given a male khaki campbell duck, I incubated the eggs and was very surprised by the outcome, the 3 females looked more or less like female khaki Campbell but Aylesbury sized but the 2 males are mallards Aylesbury sized ?, Where did the mallard come from no wild ducks could get to the females, is this a throw back from one of the parents ancestors ?.

Hello. Had exactly the same. Have runner/Shetland crosses and one hatched out as a male "mallard". When they got old enough, the "mallard" flew away. The crosses can barely get off the ground.

Gosh I’m not sure about genetics but it would make sense as all domestic ducks (not Muscovy) are descended from mallards!
