Ladies and Gentlemen... mr. and mrs. Gossmann :)

Here are my two geese - mr. and mrs. Gossmann and their two days old goslings . I am afraid I don't know what breed they are (if any) and I would be most grateful for your input.

I got the goose for my birthday and I got her the gander to keep her company. Neither of the previous owners knew what breed they were, only that they were - well... geese . There aren't many geese breeders here in Slovenia. Geese are seldomly kept at farms, but that's it. I've contacted a couple of breeders when I was searching for the gander and their advice was to mind that he's more or less the same size as the goose and that there could be problems with the goslings if one of them is vocal and the other one silent (I hope those are proper English terms ). So, I got the best looking gander in the same weight class and they hit it off instantly .

Mr. Google gave me some idea what breed they could be, but I am not sure since there are quite some similar-looking breeds. I thought mrs. Gossmann could be a pomeranian and mr. Gossmann could be a "production type" toulouse or a greylag. Anyone with more experience have an idea?

I don't know anything about geese, but this pair and their babies are just lovely, thank you for posting these pics. i hope a goose expert will be able to help with your queries, but really, it doesnt matter what breed they are, does it, as they are obviously so very healthy, happy and well-cared-for. Will you be able to keep all the goslings?

I've just looked at my "Goose"book and the one with more white on it's body looks like a a"grey back goose" and the other one a "blue goose".
Others may know better.

Marigold, you're absolutely right, it doesn't matter what breed they are, it makes no difference to me. I just thought it'd be nice to know more about them . I already have some enquiries about the goslings. If I can find them good homes, we'll give them away, otherwise we have enough space and grassland to be able to keep them all .

They could be feral geese (also known as greylag geese or domestic geese). I'm not a goose expert but I have seen and fed them at a park.
