Silkies

As silkie hens are much smaller than some chickens is it usual for them to lay a bit later.
My marsh daisy started laying just over a week ago approx age of 26 weeks and the silkie should now be 28 weeks but she hasnt started laying, she is happy enough but is very small.
Any thoughts on this matter ??
And the silkie cockeril has not tried to mount her, not as far as i know anyway..

Hi BB63. ------I have found definately silkies both male and female are late to mature. They seem to lay late, crow late ,develop combs late etc. Don't worry she will lay when she feels like it! Don't expect too many eggs though they prefer to be broody rather than exert themselves laying too many eggs! They make up for lack of eggs in personality!Have fun with them! Ros
